Announcing a Free GitHub Copilot for VS Code

Microsoft and GitHub launched Copilot Free, giving any GitHub account holder 2,000 code completions and 50 chat messages per month with no trial or credit card required, choosing between Claude 3.5 Sonnet or GPT-4o.
This significantly lowered the barrier to AI-assisted coding inside VS Code.
