Linux Kernel 6.12 Released and Confirmed as LTS

Kernel 6.12 shipped with full integration of the PREEMPT_RT real-time patchset after nearly two decades of development, the new sched_ext scheduler class, and DRM panic messages rendered as QR codes for easier debugging.
It was subsequently confirmed by Greg Kroah-Hartman as the next Long Term Support branch, with maintenance guaranteed into at least December 2026.
